The “Why” Behind Cards

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll know I’ve been focusing on cards this month. And now the ones you’ve been watching me make are available to you online! You can now shop the Love Collection of Cards and The Love of Nature Collection of Cards.

So, why cards? Well first of all, why not?! Back when I first started creating art again the first thing I decided to put my art on was cards. It was economical for me to create one piece of art, get that art printed, and start selling it on a small item verses stocking art prints. Eventually I started printing most of my cards myself and creating them. I enjoy both ways of making cards. If your local try PGH Print and Ship for your prints. They’re the best in the ‘burgh!

The biggest reason I started creating cards is knowing of a love story like no other. I’m not here to share the full story, because I could never do it justice with words. My grandmother and grandfather had a wartime love story that I’d have gram tell me on repeat while I was growing up. My grandfather past away before I was born, but I got to know him through gram’s stories. Part of their love story consisted of letters written back and forth between the pair while my grandfather was away from home. Their love grew as two stacks of letters did too. It was this beautiful memory of love letters that made me say yes to the idea of putting my art on cards before doing anything else. The cards are always left blank inside in hopes that others can fill them with their words. Maybe even some romance. ❤️💛💙
